Collecting through December 31st
Join WVLA-Local 33, Fox 44, BRProud.com and the Baton Rouge Clinic by supporting the 27th Annual St. Vincent de Paul/Bishop Ott Program Collection Drive. The items that are collected – things like soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and deodorant – go to St. Vincent de Paul’s Bishop Ott Shelter Program.
For most of us, toiletry items are just something we grab off the shelf and toss into our shopping carts without too much thought. But when someone becomes homeless, they quickly learn to appreciate what they once took for granted.
Below is a list of the toiletry items needed at the shelters. When you look at this list, think of the people who will be using them, and you’ll understand just how important this annual effort is to the Bishop Ott Shelter Program and the people they serve. We also ask you to encourage your family, friends, church or social groups to participate in a collection drive for this worthwhile effort.
St. Vincent de Paul/Bishop Ott Shelter most needed items: blankets; disposable diapers; men, women and children’s underwear; socks; knit caps; gloves; scarves; reading glasses (all strengths); slippers; feminine hygiene products; towels and washcloths; toiletry items such as deodorant, soap, shampoo, body wash, lotion, and body powder; twin, full and crib size sheets; paper products (napkins, paper towels, toilet paper); disposable cups, plates, bowls, knives, forks, and spoons; and rain gear.
