Healthy snacks are an important part of a healthy eating plan. They keep you satisfied between meals and make it less likely you’ll overeat by the time your next meal comes around. They also help maintain your energy, your focus and your mood. However, what you eat is as important as how much you eat between meals. The key is to choose foods that fill you up and supply you with nutrients rather than just a lot of sugar or salt. You’ll also want to keep portions in check so the amount of calories you consume between meals doesn’t sabotage your diet.

Nuts are often promoted as a healthy snack option. But are they really that good for you? Take our quiz to find out.

“Nuts are a great snack choice. They are a good source of protein, vitamins, and heart-healthy fat (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats). However, portion control is key. Nuts are very calorie dense, so make sure you don’t overdo it.”
