The Arthritis Foundation is pleased to honor Dr. Stephen Pollet as he celebrates 30 years of arthritis care in Baton Rouge! Dr. Pollet has made the practice of medicine a major part of his life, being married to a physician and with two of his four children having earned their M.D. credentials. Joining The Baton Rouge Clinic in 1993 following several years of post-education medical practice, Dr. Pollet blends service to his profession and community with his focus on helping his patients.
Dr. Pollet graduated from LSU in 1976 and earned his M.D. from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1980. He performed his residency in internal medicine at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, completing his program in 1983. In 1985, he earned his fellowship in internal medicine/geriatrics and a second fellowship in rheumatology in 1987 at the University of California-Davis in Sacramento, California. Returning to his home state of Louisiana, he worked at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge until joining our family of physicians in 1993.
Dr. Pollet is licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana and is board certified in rheumatology and in internal medicine. He is a board member of the Rheumatology Associates of Louisiana, the former vice-chairman of the Arthritis Association of Louisiana and currently sits on the Arthritis Foundation Baton Rouge Board. Additionally, he is assistant clinical professor of medicine with the LSU Health Sciences Center, is a member of the Capital Area Medical Society, holds a fellowship with the American College of Rheumatology, and is head of the Baton Rouge Clinic Rheumatology Department and a member of the Baton Rouge Clinic Osteoporosis Center.
Away from his practice, Dr. Pollet has served in medical missions to Honduras through St. Aloysius Church in Baton Rouge and is a member of the Baton Rouge chapter of Legatus, an organization of business leaders. Dr. Pollet is also a fan of many various sports, both at the collegiate and the professional levels.
