It’s important to protect yourself from the flu!
The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine for everyone over 6 months of age as a step in protecting against this serious disease.
Although the country’s focus is still on the COVID-19 pandemic right now, flu season is upon us whether we’re ready for it or not, and it is important for everyone to get an annual flu shot.
After you receive a flu shot, your body produces antibodies that will kill the virus if you’re exposed to it. It won’t protect you against every strain of influenza virus, but it will help against the strains expected to be the most common. Even if you still get sick after getting a flu shot, your illness will usually be milder than if you didn’t get the vaccine at all. Getting a flu shot not only protects you but reduces spread of the virus in your community.
Protect yourself by getting a flu shot this year. The CDC recommends you get a flu shot by the end of October but anytime you get one will provide health benefits to you and those around you.
