MONROE, La. — Affinity Health Group, a Division of The Baton Rouge Clinic, is pleased to announce that Patrick Gary Jones, MD, founder of Affinity Health Group, is returning to practice after retirement, rejoining the North Louisiana location he helped build nearly three decades ago.
A board-certified family medicine physician with deep roots in North Louisiana, Dr. Jones is a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Monroe and LSU Health Shreveport, where he became the first resident to complete LSU’s Family Medicine program at the former E. A. Conway Hospital. He began his private practice in Monroe in 1985.
In 1994, Dr. Jones joined a group of physician colleagues to found Vantage Health Plan, later establishing Affinity Health Group. Under their leadership, the organizations grew to employ approximately 1,300 people in the Monroe area and played a significant role in revitalizing several historic downtown properties. Vantage Health Plan was acquired by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana in 2019, and in 2024, Affinity Health Group joined The Baton Rouge Clinic, expanding access to resources and specialty care throughout Northeast Louisiana.
After stepping away for retirement, Dr. Jones has chosen to return to the practice he founded, once again bringing his experience and commitment to family medicine to patients in the Monroe community.
“The people of Monroe have made this community a wonderful place to live, work and build a business,” said Dr. Jones. “Retirement gave me time to reflect on how much I missed caring for patients and being part of this community. I’m grateful for the chance to come back to the practice we built together and continue serving the families of this area.”
Dr. Jones and his wife, Sissie, are active members of St. Matthew Church in downtown Monroe. They have four children and 12 grandchildren.
Affinity Health Group, a Division of The Baton Rouge Clinic, welcomes patients to schedule appointments with Dr. Jones as he resumes practice at the North Louisiana location.
