Often confused with pediatric or family medical practices, Internal Medicine delivers comprehensive medical care to adults of all ages. By regularly taking advantage of our Internal Medicine services at Baton Rouge Clinic, you are making a long-term investment in the quality of your health. Here’s a breakdown of this field of medicine and how our high standard of care will deliver lasting benefits to your overall wellbeing.
What Is Internal Medicine?
Internal medicine is a field in which specialists called internists rely on their vast scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to improve the health of adult patients. This repertoire of experience enables our Internal Medicine department to diagnose and treat a variety of common and complex illnesses, as well as assist patients in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Scope of Internal Medicine
Disease prevention and maintaining the overall wellness of our patients is a top priority of our internists. However, Internal Medicine at Baton Rouge Clinic also encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of illnesses, ranging from the common cold to serious conditions. To ensure that whatever symptoms or ailments are afflicting our patients are properly addressed, our internists are highly skilled and trained.
Our Internal Medicine Services
Our team of internists is driven by their compassion and expertise to provide services that meet only the highest standard of care. Our Internal Medicine department is fully equipped to administer routine health exams and preventative care, including screenings, preoperative evaluations, vaccinations and more, to keep our patients as healthy as possible.
If we uncover an illness or condition that requires more advanced care, we will collaborate with other doctors and specialists, such as surgeons, to devise a comprehensive approach that will have you feeling better as soon as possible. And during every appointment, our internists will advise you on how to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle based on the conditions you may have that will deliver positive impacts to your overall health.
In addition, commercial pilot applicants who meet Federal Aviation Administration standards can utilize our Internal Medicine department to receive flight physical examinations and aviation medical certificates from an FAA-designated Aviation Medical Examiner. We also offer travel medicine services, known as emporiatrics, for the prevention and management of health issues specific to international travelers.

The Baton Rouge Clinic has received Recognition from the NCQA’s Diabetes Recognition Program for providing quality care to patients with diabetes.
The Diabetes Recognition Program was designed to acknowledge clinicians who use evidence-based measures and provide excellent care to patients with diabetes. To receive recognition, the Clinic submitted data that demonstrates performance that meets the Program’s key diabetes care measures, including blood pressure, cholesterol and hemoglobin (HbA1c) controls, and eye examinations, among others. When people with diabetes receive quality care as outlined by these measures, they are less likely to suffer complications such as heart attacks, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and amputations.
Two of The Baton Rouge Clinic’s Internal Medicine Physicians have been chosen as Baton Rouge Parents Magazine’s Family Favorite Family Physicians for 2023! The awards are held annually through Baton Rouge Parents Magazine, and all nominations are submitted by readers around the Baton Rouge area. Congratulations to the runner-up, Dr. Jennifer Greeson, and the runner-up, Dr. Rebecca Treuil!
