Position Summary

The Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to patients in a fast-paced urgent care and walk-in clinic setting. The Physician will evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage patients presenting with acute illnesses, minor injuries, and non-emergent medical conditions while coordinating care with primary care physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals as needed. The Physician will focus on delivering high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered outpatient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to patients presenting to the walk-in clinic.
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses, minor injuries, and common medical conditions.
  • Perform office-based and urgent care procedures within scope of practice, including wound care, laceration repair, splinting, incision and drainage, and foreign body removal.
  • Assess patient conditions and determine appropriate levels of care, including referral to emergency departments, specialists, or primary care providers when necessary.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
  • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Accurately document patient encounters, treatment plans, procedures, and clinical outcomes in the electronic health record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, medical staff activities, and continuing medical education programs to maintain and enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Comply with all applicable clinic policies, accreditation standards, and federal and state regulations.

Basic Skills Required

• Strong clinical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses, injuries, and common medical conditions.
• Ability to effectively coordinate care among multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to interpret diagnostic studies and develop evidence-based treatment plans.
• Experience performing common urgent care and office-based procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment.
• Commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate, and patient-centered care.
• Proficiency in electronic health record systems and clinical documentation.

Specific Skills Required

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Possess or be eligible to obtain an unrestricted Louisiana medical license.
• Current DEA registration and authority to prescribe controlled substances.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm (schedule may vary as needed )
