Job Description

Affinity Health Group is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy team in providing accurate, efficient, and compassionate service to patients. The Pharmacy Technician will assist with prescription processing, medication preparation, insurance verification, inventory management, and communication with patients, providers, and pharmacies. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Receive, enter, and process prescription orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist pharmacists with preparing, packaging, labeling, and dispensing medications under appropriate supervision.
  • Verify patient demographic information, prescription details, allergies, and insurance information.
  • Process prescription claims and assist with resolving insurance denials, coverage issues, and prior authorization requirements.
  • Communicate with patients regarding prescription status, refills, medication availability, and pharmacy-related questions.
  • Assist with prescription refill requests and ensure requests are processed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate patient and prescription records in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Assist with medication inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and monitoring medications and supplies.
  • Monitor medication expiration dates and maintain proper storage and organization of medications.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate controlled-substance records and inventory as required.
  • Collect and process patient payments and assist with billing-related questions when needed.
  • Protect patient privacy and maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and company policies.

Basic Skills Required

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Pharmacy Technician certification preferred
Previous pharmacy, healthcare, or medical office experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling medications and patient information.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Specific Skills Required

Familiarity with pharmacy software, electronic health records, and insurance systems preferred.
Knowledge of prescription medications, medical terminology, and pharmacy procedures preferred.
Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team in a fast-paced environment.
