Dr. Erik B. Sowell, a native of Conway, Arkansas, earned his Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Central Arkansas in 2010 and his Medical Degree from The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences School of Medicine in 2015. Dr. Sowell completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Louisiana State University Health & Science Center in New Orleans in 2018.
Before joining The Baton Rouge Clinic’s Internal Medicine Department in January 2024, Dr. Sowell previously practiced at Mercy Health System Primary Care Clinic in Bentonville, Arkansas, and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, Florida. He is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is licensed to practice medicine in the states of Arkansas, Florida, and Louisiana. Dr. Sowell is an active member of various professional organizations including the American College of Physicians, the Arkansas Medical Society, the Florida Medical Society, and the Louisiana State Medical Society. He is also a member of the La Paz organization, where he performs mission work in Belize.
Dr. Sowell is married to his wife, Dr. Caroline Lieux Sowell, and while not at the office, he enjoys bike riding, traveling internationally, hiking, cooking, and spending time with his family, especially his wife and Bernadoodle, Winnie.
