A member of the Baton Rouge Clinic family of physicians since 1987, Dr. Michael L. Rolfsen, while born in Covington, Kentucky, came to Baton Rouge at an early age and considers it his home town. Graduating from LSU in 1978, he earned his M.D. from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1982. Then he performed his medical residency in Internal Medicine through the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, completing his program in 1986. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Medical Bioethics and Health Policy through Loyola University in 2008.

Dr. Rolfsen is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Physicians. He holds memberships in the American Medical Association and the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society. He is licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana.

Unique to his practice of medicine is a focus on what is commonly called Travel Medicine or Emporiatrics and is among a few Baton Rouge area physicians licensed to administer vaccinations for yellow fever.

In his private life, Dr. Michael L. Rolfsen serves on the board of Teach for America and is active with the Volunteer Health Corps of Baton Rouge. He also teaches “Medical Bioethics” at LSU and serves on the ethics committees at 3 area hospitals. He and his wife have five children and make Baton Rouge their home.
