A member of the Baton Rouge Clinic family of physicians since 1987, Dr. Michael L. Rolfsen, was born in Covington, Kentucky, but came to Baton Rouge at an early age and considers it his hometown. Graduating from LSU in 1978, he earned his M.D. from the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans in 1982. Then he performed his medical residency in Internal Medicine at the University of South Alabama Medical Center in Mobile, completing his program in 1986. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Medical Bioethics and Health Policy through Loyola University in 2008.

Dr. Rolfsen is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He holds memberships in the American Medical Association and the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society. He is licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana.

In his private life, Dr. Michael L. Rolfsen serves on the board of Teach for America and the board of supervisors for Fran U. He also teaches “Medical Bioethics” at LSU and serves on the ethics committees at 3 area hospitals. He and his wife have five children and five grandchildren.
