Dr. Shavaun Cotton, a native of Longview, Texas, earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Xavier University of Louisiana, graduating summa cum laude in 2007. She went on to complete both her Master of Public Health in Health Systems Management from the Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in 2012 and her Medical Degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in 2012. Dr. Cotton completed her residency in Family Medicine at Baton Rouge General in 2015. She joined The Baton Rouge Clinic’s Family Medicine office in Prairieville in June 2026.

Dr. Cotton has been practicing medicine for 11 years and previously practiced at Baton Rouge General Physicians. She is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana. She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the Louisiana Academy of Family Physicians, and the East Baton Rouge Medical Association. She is also a recipient of the United Healthcare United Hero Award (2024) and has been recognized as a BCBSLA Quality Blue Top Performer.

When she is not at the office, Dr. Cotton enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and mentoring youth through leadership and health education initiatives.
