Shelbi C. Ettinger, a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, attended Southwest Mississippi Community College on a fastpitch softball scholarship, where she earned an Associate degree in General Studies in 2011. Following her collegiate softball career, Shelbi went on to earn an Associate degree in Nursing from Hinds Community College in 2015, her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2019, and her Master of Science degree in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University in 2024, where she was awarded “Franciscan Student of the Year” in 2024. Shelbi joined The Baton Rouge Clinic’s Gastroenterology Department in September of 2025.
Before becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Shelbi worked as a nurse for 10 years in various units, such as med-surg, the pediatric emergency room, the preoperative care unit, and the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) for both adults and pediatrics. She is a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) and FNP in the state of Louisiana and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, through which she is nationally board-certified.
Shelbi is married with two children, and when she is not seeing patients, she enjoys reading, shopping, spending time with her family, and playing games or sports.
